Decades Amir Temur's personality was tendentiously lightened both in scientific and in the popular literature. In days of the imperial power prevailed the tendency presenting Amir Temur's personality as a cruel conqueror. Not casual, exactly these years one of the greatest warlords of the world was indicated in works of scientists as "Tamerlan", «Lame Temur». In Soviet historiography he was characterized only as the cruel conqueror.

      The special relation to Amir Temur has developed in Azerbaijan. The image of Amir Temur in the literature and art of Azerbaijan was considered as a symbol of greatness of all Turkic world. Best of works of the Azerbaijan authors, dedicated to the great warlord and the statesman, is considered the drama "Amir Temur" written by known Azerbaijan playwright Husseyn Djavid (1882-1941). H.Djavid's works were put on scenes of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Central Asia.

      The first work of H.Djavid staged on the Uzbek scene was the play "Maral", then were "Sheyda", "Iblis" "Sheikh Sanan". Husseyn Djavid has faced great difficulties at work on image of Amir Temur. So, in Soviet Union Amir Temur was presented as the cruel conqueror and from the very beginning H.Djavid has faced pressure of the authorities. The historical drama has been finished in 1925, H.Djavid's authority on the cultural world of Azerbaijan was high, and a drama have allowed to stage. In a drama the image of Amir Temur was not entered in frameworks of the Soviet ideology, the author has shown Amir Temur not as merciless, cruel lame, but as greatest warlord, connector of the Turkic world, the patron of sciences, arts, crafts and trade. In 1926 the Academic theatre of Azerbaijan has put again the drama "Amir Temur" of H.Djavid in Baku. In a leading role the well-known actor of the dramatic plan Sidqi Ruhulla has played. Spectators with delight have accepted performance, but H.Djavid and a theatre management has been urgently recommended not to put any more a drama where Amir Temur is shown in an attractive kind. When in 1937 H.Djavid has been arrested, among numerous charges presented to him, there was also a charge in propaganda of the personality of Amir Temur. The playwright has been condemned for 8 years and sent in camp in Magadan.

      In 1983 H.Djavid's drama has been picturized on the Azerbaijan TV. For the first time after a long break the Azerbaijan spectator has seen again the great warlord without any cliches and political orders. In 1998 the drama has been published in January issue of magazine «Zhahon adabiyeti» in Uzbek language in translation of known Uzbek philologist Usmon Kuchkara.

      On the 9th April 2010 Embassy of the Azerbaijan Republic in Republic Uzbekistan together with the State museum of history of Temurids carries out the action devoted to the 85 anniversary of a drama "Amir Temur". Officials of Republic Uzbekistan, representatives of embassies and other foreign missions accredited in Tashkent, the representatives of scientific and creative elite of Uzbekistan, and also activists of the Azerbaijan diaspora and representatives of mass media are invited to action.

      The corresponding member of National Academy of sciences of Azerbaijan, the Doctor of Philology Teymur Kerimli, the director of a house museum of H.Djavid (Baku) Doctor of Philology Gulbeniz Baharly, a candidate of art criticism Feride Kulieva will take part in action.
